Wet Shaving with Mr Natty at AG

A few of our lucky customers enjoyed a smooth Christmas thanks to the fine work of Mr Natty. The master barber to rogues, ruffians and royalty spent a day plying his fine skills on the young gentlemen of Gippeswyck. If you missed him, then you missed a treat – a great wet shave, sharp haircuts, a glass of Prosecco, home made amaretti biscuits and, of course, top notch banter. Mr Natty will return!

Mr Natty is coming to town

Mr Natty is a celebrity men's groomer who has worked for pretty much every men's magazine and client you could throw a stick at. Currently he is only bringing his pop-up shop to the excellent Albam men's store in London's Spitalfields. As a special Christmas treat he will be catching the train at Liverpool Street to bless us with a special gent's day at our new store. Antonio Giovanni are proud to be the first East Anglian stockists of his amazing new range of grooming products for more discerning gentlemen – with a twinkle in their eye. Wet shaves and Natty haircuts are the order of the day. So get yourself a bit of growth, make an appointment (no walk-ins for Natty, chaps) and enjoy some pre-Christmas preparation from a master barber. Call us or pop in for your time slot!

WE ARE OPEN!

Our grand opening was yesterday! Rather busy all round chaps, so a little late with these delightful snaps of our new premises. We told it was going to be nice didn't we?

Of course the internet is lovely and clever and all that but you'll need to come in see us for yourselves if you want a decent trim.  Opening times below. Don't be a stranger.

Famous Haircuts We Find Inspiring # 1 - Paolo Rossi

Here's a little series we'll post now and then. Obviously, we're in a little nostalgic mood today, so we've found an old sticker from our extensive early 80s Figurine Panini sticker book collection. Paolo Rossi with a rather heavy (not too heavy) windswept and sweat look. No product there chaps. You can see from the picture on the right (taken earlier in the 70s) where Paolo was going with this, although arguably, in this day and age, the cut on the right is far more contemporary.

Anyway, the World Cup haircut is unmistakeably a classic footballer cut - a little light feathering and the hint of a mullet. It's the kind of look you can only get away with in your mid to late 20s, especially if you're just after winning the World Cup of a summer in Spain. After that you've got to give it up son. We wonder if Paolo is bald now? We'll google that for you...

Bravissimo Paolo!
We can report that he still has a handsome head of hair. Much the same, but a little trimmer on the back and sides.

What we 'like'

We are simple folk. Life's not too complicated. We cut hair, talk football and as a matter of course (as barbers) are compelled to ask you about your holidays.

We Like... hair that needs a trim and a style
It keeps us in business (Frankie... when you get kicked out of X-Factor... soon... give us a shout)

We Like Ipswich Town But to be fair we preferred them when they were good. If only because it coincided with them all having more hair. But, you know, it will come round again (the hair and the glory)... Blue Army!

We Like Juventus Well... the name Antonio Giovanni should have given you a clue...

We Like Classic Football Matches on TV Who doesn't?

We Like Mr Natty Mr Natty is supplying us with his fantastic new grooming range for the new salon. If you're not Natty, you're not Natty!

We actually do like hearing about your holidays

We like us - and that's what matters

While the rest of the world tweets and facebooks, we're sticking to our little blog for now. You don't want us bothering you on your wall all the time, and so what if you 'like' us? We figure you must like us because you let us cut your hair. That's one of the rules of life... Never have someone you particularly dislike cut your barnet – it could all go horribly wrong. Hmm... maybe we should frame that...

Goodbye Tacket Street (soon!)

We've been at Tacket Street a good few years now. However, the time has come to move to bigger (and much better) premises. We are getting ready to pack up the scissors and head down to our amazing new salon at 45 St Nicholas St. Unfortunately, we won't be able to take our Ipswich Town wall of fame with us, and it looks likely that all our beloved Gazzetta covers of Juventus' triumphs won't make it either. To preserve them for prosperity (of a sort) we've posted them here. As the new salon comes along, we'll post some more pictures and let you know what exciting developments we're planning for the all new Antonio Giovanni salon. As a sneak preview, we can reveal that it's possible to swing a cat in there!
